FlyVolt
B2B e-catalog and RFQ platform for a Canadian supplier of UAV components — batteries, fiber optic, FPV and ISR systems built on a headless Next.js architecture.
About the project
FlyVolt is a Montreal-based supplier of professional UAV (drone) components serving defense, public safety, and commercial operators across North America, distributing batteries, fiber optic tethers, FPV systems, and ISR payloads from leading manufacturers.
We built the platform on Next.js 15 with Payload CMS 3 as the headless backend, enabling the FlyVolt team to manage a complex product catalog with multi-level categories, technical specifications, datasheets, and compatibility notes — all through a clean, branded admin panel.
The RFQ (Request for Quote) workflow allows buyers to build a product list and submit a single inquiry, streamlining the B2B procurement process. Server-side rendering ensures full crawlability for technical product pages targeting defense and commercial drone operators.
The Challenge
FlyVolt was managing a complex, growing UAV component catalog via PDF price lists and email. Defense and commercial buyers needed a professional digital storefront with technical specs, datasheets, and a structured RFQ process — something off-the-shelf e-commerce platforms could not handle.
The Solution
We built a headless Next.js 15 platform with Payload CMS 3 as the backend, enabling FlyVolt to manage 500+ SKUs with multi-level categories, compatibility notes, and datasheets. The RFQ workflow lets buyers assemble a product list and submit a single structured inquiry, dramatically streamlining B2B procurement.
Results & Impact
- 500+ SKUs catalogued and fully searchable at launch
- RFQ submissions up 3× vs. previous email-based process
- Core Web Vitals: 97/100 on PageSpeed Insights
- B2B procurement cycle reduced from days to hours
Our customers — including defense procurement offices — now have a professional portal that reflects the quality of our components. RFQ volume tripled within 60 days of launch.
